Goals:
Design-IT project aims to develop a Decision Science Design Platform focused on supporting the transition to Industry 4.0 and helping the adoption of sustainable and circular practices. The goal is to build a platform for the design, development, deployment, and operation of Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence algorithms, designed for domain experts who are not necessarily sofware developers.
Low-code Platform
Low-code programming allows people to design, configure, deploy, and operate IT solutions without necessarily being software experts.
Digital Twins
A Digital Twin is a virtual model designed to accurately reflect a physical object or process. DESIGN-IT aims to integrate the peculiarities of discrete event simulation techniques, kinematic simulation, mathematical-physical analysis of material behavior (i.e., FEM method) and machine learning into a single framework.
AI Algorithms
The project aims to develop AI modules that will be available to the Decision Science Design Platform (DSDP).
The main objective of the project, well summarized by the diagram below, is the prototyping of a DSDP that will enable:
1. Multi-level Digital Twins
Build Digital Twins at multiple levels, i.e., at both product or component and process levels.
2. Artificial Intelligence Services.
Make available to Digital Twins, and thus real counterparts, Artificial Intelligence services that optimize their design and/or operation.
3. Building AI-based applications.
Enabling non-software experts to use Digital Twins and build AI-based applications.
4. Data for experts.
Building and managing a data storage and management layer that is intuitive and easily interpreted by domain experts.
5. Human-machine collaboration.
Increase adoption and increase human-machine collaboration through the use of explainable, reliable, and robust AI techniques.
