Precision Agriculture and Artificial Intelligence for sustainable innovation in arboriculture
Goals
Precision agriculture and Artificial Intelligence for sustainable innovation in arboriculture
ATENA project aims to develop a platform for the design and management of modern arboreal, intensive, and superintensive cropping systems in territories of different environmental, agronomic, and socioeconomic status. The platform, called DSDP (Decision Science Design Platform), is designed as a configurable, intuitive, accessible technological framework that can be integrated with existing hardware and software systems.
The DSDP developed in ATENA will be a SaaS platform capable of hosting, managing and running cloud-based services for the creation of complex decision support systems using Artificial Intelligence methods and models. Specifically, the research and development activities of the project aim to develop a low-code platform, i.e., one that enables the design, development, deployment and operation of Artificial Intelligence applications without necessarily being a software developer. For this reason, the platform qualifies as Decision Support Design Platform (DSDP), where the word ‘Design’, in addition to the well-known DSP or DSS, is one of the main innovations. Design, and thus planning, will involve both the creation of computational pipelines for decision support and, through these, the design of a new tree planting.
